We hope you are maintaining your physical and mental health during this difficult time. We would like to share with you what Enfield Loaves and Fishes have been doing during the COVID-19 crisis that has hit our area along with the rest of the world. It is truly tragic but we know our role to play as a specialized essential service provider for our community is very important.
Even before Stay-at-Home orders were in place, ELF diligently worked to make sure that the safety of our clients, staff, and volunteers was first and foremost. Then we quickly adapted to the new rules in place in order to assure that there would be no interruptions with our regular meal schedule. People still need to eat no matter what the situation is. As more and more of our neighbors showed up, because of employment loss due to COVID, we did what we needed to do to increase the number of meals. This was no easy feat! Food and supply shortages became challenges. All our meals are now packaged to go and picked up outside. This added additional costs of packaging, plus we needed masks, gloves, and sanitizer. We have had to branch out even further to make sure we have enough to continue offering nutritious well-balanced meals. As the lines of people at our door grew, we were proud to see that we could meet their needs.
All our regular fundraising has had to be canceled. Money for supplies is a concern. The situation is ever-changing and we are adapting as quickly as we can, but we need your help.
We are so grateful for the gifts, donations, and support that allows us to increase our capacity in this time of unprecedented need. If there is any additional help you can provide, it would be most appreciated. Without generous benefactors like you and volunteers who give selflessly week after week, Enfield Loaves & Fishes would not be able to continue the fight against hunger in our community during this COVID pandemic. It’s your help that makes a big difference in the lives of others.
